The Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip DX is a pigment gel ink pen with a sturdy blue plastic striped body which Pentel describe as elegant, I would be inclined to say it’s a masculine looking pen.
One transparent ink level section is just above the grey rubber grip, another on the cap enables the 1.0mm tip to be viewed. The grip section is made from a grey rubberised material, this is about 1 inch long and does make it comfortable to hold.
Although the broad 1.0mm tip is not something I would chose for everyday writing, it does emit a smooth ink which is said to be fade in water resistant, I can vouch for the fact it is resistant to water and have no reason to doubt the claim from a company in the business of producing writing instruments for more than 50 years that it is also fade proof.
The pen is available with a blue, black, red, ink and can be refilled. The removable cap has a sturdy metal pocket clip, flexible enough to attach to my wide notepad with ease.
Performance
I have to say at a glance I didn’t consider the broad tip did my handwriting any favours, it seemed to make me scribble even more than usual.
