I might be in love.
It’s one of those long-distance things. We haven’t met yet, but we will. Ohhh, we will.
The object of my affection is a pen. A very special-looking pen called the “Fat Boy.”
The Fat Boy is a wide-bodied pen about four inches in length and almost three times the diameter of a standard ballpoint pen. It has rubber grips and comes in an assortment of materials – aluminum, steel, copper, brass – and in unique designs with names like the Comet, the Silencer and the Teslacoil.
One of my goals for the new year is to take up doodling.
That might sound a bit silly. Frivolous, even. But there is a reason for it, and a reason I’d recommend everyone become a doodler, at least a little.
Research over the last few years consistently has found that the simple act of doodling increases a person’s ability to retain information, aids in learning new concepts and stimulates the right hemisphere of the brain, helping to fire the imagination.
Creative writing takes on a whole new meaning when you’re using a 3D pen. Based on the same technology as the ubiquitous 3D printer, these pens use plastic as ink, making for a writing or drawing experience that literally stands out from the page.
