We’ve been looking for an excuse to mention ACME Studios – one of our favorite fantastical pen designers – and recently found one on the HorrorTalk.com site, of all places.
If you aren’t familiar, the Hawaii-based ACME designs some of the coolest pop culture pens ever, from the desk pen that looks like a ray gun to the Blue Man Group-inspired limited edition rollerball. We dare you to go their site and browse the pens without salivating at least a little.
I swear I will never look at Bic ballpoint pens with the same jaundiced eye ever again.
Samuel Silva is an attorney in Portugal whose ‘hobby’ is creating art. He uses Bic pens to draw brilliant, vivid images so lifelike, they look like photographs.
Now I can’t speak for the rest of the Pen Vibe crew, but I couldn’t draw a stick figure if I had to – even a legless, armless one. That’s why those who can draw fascinate me so much…because they have this magical ability that runs from their eyes through their imaginations and down to their fingers to create the most amazing things.

Having previously reviewed the Pilot Rexgrip BPRG10RM and the Pilot V Board Master recycled white board marker, I am now taking the opportunity of putting a Pilot Rexgrip through its paces, let’s see how they compare.
At the risk of repeating myself (I’ve mentioned before) that these days I usually reach for a rollerball before any other kind of writing implement. So with that in mind, having a Staedtler Elance Facette to review was a bit of a novelty. This ballpoint has an attractive metal effect design its retractable & can be refilled.Given the appearance of this pen I was surprised by how light it was to hold, the stylish metallic barrel has been manufactured in a guilloche design (a repetitive pattern with an engraved effect) gave me the impression that it would be hefty. Instead it felt light & comfortable in my grip.
The Caran d’Ache Frosty – that name just drips elegance, doesn’t it?
Not exactly what you would expect from a plain ballpoint pen. But then again, the Frosty isn’t precisely an ordinary ballpoint pen, and here is my review.
