1. About Conklin
Conklin Pens can trace its history back to 1898 when Roy Conklin and his business partner C.B. Grundy started the Self-Filling Fountain Pen Company.
He went on to Create The Conklin Pen Manufacturing Company in 1901, but it ceased trading around the 1950s. In 2000 the Conklin brand resurfaced and was subsequently bought out by Yafa Brands in 2009, which owns the brand name.
Yafa brands do not fit Conklin branded refills into their pens; they are either a Monteverde refill, another brand owned by them, or a Schmidt refill for which they are the U.S.A distributer.
2. Conklin Ballpoint Pen Refills
All Conklin ballpoint pens use a standard-size Parker Style G2 refill, either a Schmidt P900 refill or a Monteverde G2 Parker Style refill.
You can use any G2 pen refill in Conklin ballpoint pens. Check out our Ultimate Guide to Parker Style G2 Refills, where there are details of over 35 different refills from the leading pen manufacturers.
These include ballpoint ink, hybrid ink, and gel ink refills.
3. Conklin Rollerball Pen Refills
All Conklin Rollerball refills use a standard Euro Format refill, usually a Schmidt Safety Ceramic Roller 5888 refill.
The Schmidt 5888 refill is available in the following colors and tip sizes:
- Schmidt Safety Ceramic Roller Refill 5888 F – black, blue, red, or green ink
- Schmidt Safety Ceramic Roller Refill 5888 M – black, blue, red, green, magenta, turquoise, violet, light-green, pink, and orange
- Schmidt Safety Ceramic Roller Refill 5888 B – black or blue ink
Schmidt also makes a cheaper version with a plastic barrel, the Schmidt 888 F, M, B refill.
Check out our Ultimate Guide to Euro Format Refills for more information on this type of refill.
4. Conklin Fountain Pen Refills
Conklin fountain pens can either be refilled with short international standard size ink cartridges or ink from a bottle using an ink converter.
Conklin Fountain Pen Ink Cartridges
Conklin fountain pen ink cartridges are the short international size, and you can use them in Conklin fountain pens and any other make of fountain pen that takes this type of ink cartridge.
Monteverde makes the cartridges for Conklin, and the ink uses their ITF technology that improves the ink flow.
Conklin ink cartridges are available in the following colors:
Conklin Fountain Pen Bottled Ink
Conklin bottled fountain pen ink is in 90ml bottles and is made for them by Monteverde, who uses IFT technology to improve the ink flow.
