If you are unfamiliar with Schmidt refills, they are widely recognized as the best quality ones you can buy.

This guide covers every Schmidt pen refill, available sizes and colors, and which type of refill they are.

Table of Contents

1. About Schmidt, the Specialist Pen Refill Manufacturer

Schmidt Technology is a German specialist manufacturer of pen refills. They have a reputation for innovation and making exceptional quality refills that are ultra-reliable.

As a result, many major pens and luxury brands use refills in the pens that Schmidt makes.

These refills are often “White Labelled,” meaning that Schmidt marks the refills with the pen brand’s name and branding instead of their own.

Luxury brands that use Schmidt refills include:

2. Schmidt EasyFLOW Ink Refills

Schmidt EasyFLOW ink refills contain a hybrid ink that combines the fast-drying characteristics of the oil-based ink used in ballpoint pens with the smooth writing you get from a rollerball pen that uses water-based liquid ink refills.

EasyFLOW Refills are exceptionally smooth writing and are available in two standard sizes that comply with ISO 12757-1:2017. These are the Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 (G2) and the Schmidt EasyFLOW 6000 (D1)

Schmidt Easy Flow refills have a long cap-off time which does what it says on the tin. They will not dry out if left with a cap off for a long time, which can be a problem with some gel and rollerball pens.

Schmidt EasyFLOW refills are ideal for replacing refills in pens with either a retractable or twist-action mechanism to advance and retract the nib.

2.1. Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 G2 Parker Style Refill 1.0mm

Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 M Refill

The Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 is a Parker-style G2 refill with a very smooth writing hybrid ink available in black or blue.

EasyFLOW 9000 refills have a long cap-off time, meaning the ink does not dry quickly and starts to flow instantly as soon as you begin writing.

This refill is one of Schmidt’s most popular refills as it is a standard G2 size complying with ISO 12757-1:2017.

Many pen manufacturers use this size refill in their pens, and with its smooth writing properties, the EasyFLOW 9000 refill is an excellent alternative.

Check out The Ultimate Guide to Parker Style Refills for more information.

Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 Vs. Fisher Refills

Some ask how the EasyFLOW 9000 compares against the Fisher Space pen refills, two completely different refills. The Fisher Space pen refills are a pressurized ballpoint pen refill, and the Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 refill is a hybrid ink refill.

They are not compatible or interchangeable, but the Schmidt MegaLine P4889 is a pressurized refill that is the Schmidt equivalent of a Fisher PR4 refill and will fit all Fisher Space pens with a PR4 refill.

Schmidt EasyFLOW 9000 Vs Schmidt P900 Refills

Both the EasyFLOW 9000 and Schmidt P900 refills are Parker-style G2 refills. The difference is that the EasyFLOW 9000 has super smooth-flowing ink that glides across the paper.

The Schmidt P900 refill is a standard ballpoint pen refill that we cover in more detail later in this guide.
